Suddenly and with no explanations, Claudine’s beloved father decises to abandon her in a nuns’ intership in Britanny, which was famous for its authoritarianism and traditional teaching methods. She was only ten years old then and without any excuse, he never appeared again in her life.
Claudine stayed nine whole years in Saint Paul’s school, but the day she became nineteen, two solicitors announced her the sudden death of her father in Paris. She is the only inheritor of his great fortune, but until the twenty-first year of her age, she is put in a custody of a legal guardian. An english nobleman, The Honourable Henry Arcam Burns, for which she has never heard and who requires from her to settle in his house in the Yorkshire province, in northern England.
Who is this stern, dark and mysterious man, who says to her that he was a close friend of her father? Why Claudine does not know anything about him? Does he really want to protect her or is he hiding big secrets behind his abrupt and ill-mannered conduct? Will Claudine manage to discover the truth as long as she lives with him to the grand and monumental Archer Hall or she will stay in the darkeness of a falsehood reality for ever?
